RED DIRT OUTFITTERS

+

A UNIQUE HUNT

There are no high fences or human-stocked wildlife here. What we have is what our Good Lord has blessed us with. You'll have an experience like no other with our fair chase hunting in rough western Oklahoma back country along the banks of the South Canadian River. The sparse population and terrain of Dewey County provide ideal conditions for hogs and other wildlife to prosper. We have canyons and heavy tree cover as well as wide open fields where everything comes out to graze. Mark has spent years scouting hundreds of acres in our area and learning the habits and daily routines of the local wildlife. Let him tailor a hunting adventure for you and your needs. We welcome all skill levels and ages of hunters, male and female alike. If you have any special needs or concerns, let us know and we will be happy to do our best to accommodate you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Q: WHAT CALIBER FIREARM DO I NEED?
At Red Dirt Outfitters we place a high priority on good shot placement. A well placed shot will produce more successful results in harvesting game. Depending on what type of hunt you choose, we suggest looking into the Oklahoma Wildlife Department and their regulations on legal means of taking certain game animals. www.wildlifedepartment.com

  • Q: WHAT ABOUT LODGING AND MEALS?
RDO is very rurally located, but there is small 'mom and pop' motel located in Thomas, Oklahoma that we recommend. If you're willing to drive a little further, Weatherford, Oklahoma is a college town and has several nice hotels.
Some meals can be arranged at RDO depending on group size and availability. Thomas has a nice little restaurant with down-home comfort food as well as a small grocery store and dollar store with snacks and quick foods. Weatherford offers some well known fast food places and a few nice casual dining restaurants.

  • Q: WHAT ADDITIONAL COSTS CAN I INCUR?
Licensing and tag fees set by the state of Oklahoma for specific game animals can be found at www.wildlifedepartment.com. If you are hunting hogs and have questions about what regulations and fees apply to you at the time of your hunt, feel free to contact us.
Basic skinning and quartering is included in your hunt, but if you would like more, we offer full custom processing on any game. Call for quote.
If you harvest a trophy game animal we would be more than happy to refer you to a taxidermist in our area.
Be sure to check your booking contract in order to know whether lodging is included in your hunt.
As with any other service provided, gratuities are always appreciated.

  • Q: WHAT GEAR SHOULD I BRING?
A good start would be a primary firearm (or archery equipment), good knife, flashlight, supportive boots or shoes, and clothing appropriate for the weather during the time of year you'll be hunting.  We do have some gear available on a very limited basis. Contact us to discuss what you need and we'll do our best to help you out.
We are located in western Oklahoma and the running joke is that if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes. You can be prepared for just about anything and be caught unprepared. If you find that you've forgotten something, we will do our best to get you taken care of.

  • Q: WHY SHOULD I PICK RED DIRT OUTFITTERS?
We make you our priority. We pride ourselves in taking what you expect from your hunt and combining that with our unique approach to make your entire experience something you'll never forget. From the minute you arrive at RDO we will do our very best to make sure you feel right at home. We aren't over the top, extravagant, or flashy; we are the down-home, simple country life that so many people are looking for nowadays. We believe that there is just something special about our little part of the earth and we thoroughly enjoy sharing that with everyone who comes to hunt with us.
