God Rides The Rim
(written by Laverne Berry, Cordell, Oklahoma)

Today I rode the canyon rim,
And I sat right next to God.
I rode the same old mountain trail,
A million hooves have trod.

My pony's ears were sharper pricked,
Than they had been before.
And every time his hooves sat down,
Was swift, precise and sure.

And I saw today with clarity,
Things before today unseen.
A flash of color, crash of sound,
And smells so crisp and clean.

Wildflowers in their springtime coats,
And grass a velvet table.
The way the hawks and eagles float,
Over peaks of white and sable.

And in the noisy silence,
Of the life filled mountain air,
I heard God speaking to me,
And felt His presence there.

How anyone could view the earth,
And all of God's creation,
And not be forced to bow their knee,
In praise and adulation?

The things I saw and heard, and felt,
Had not just come to be.
For they had been there all along.
The change, it was in me.

Today I rode the canyon rim,
And creation I did see.
And I'll never ride alone again
God rides the rim with me.
