HISTORY
OF THE TRIPLE CROSS COWBOY MINISTRY, INC.
Alan
and Sherry Morgan were living in Happy, Texas when God called Alan back to Clinton, Oklahoma. Alan was working as the cattle
manager at Cattlco/Lone Star. When the Morgans returned to Clinton, neither Alan nor Sherry had a job, they returned on faith.
They had faith that God would provide for them, and He has over and over and over again!
Alan
and Sherry both started day working and went from day to day. Alan was working at Ranchers and Farmers Livestock Auction in
Clinton when he started talking to one of the cowboys that worked out back and sharing the Lord with anyone who would listen.
Vaudy Rhoads was also working at the Clinton Livestock Auction and also at OKC West Livestock Auction in El Reno. Vaudy offered
to see if they were needing any help at El Reno, and soon Alan started sharing a ride on Wednesdays to the sale barn over
in El Reno. When he went to work over there Alan met C.A. Haskell, who is the yard manager at the sale barn at OKC West.
Alan, Vaudy and C.A. all started sharing the Lord and started a prayer group before the sale.
Triple Cross Cowboy Ministry held
their first Cowboy church service in Clinton on December 16, 2002, after Alan felt the Lord told him to get Ray Perryman to
come to Clinton. Alan and Sherry talked to sale barn owner Rex Flaming about using the sale barn to hold their services. Not too long after that, Alan and Sherry returned to Happy, Texas for a cowboy
church service at the Arena Church where they attended before they moved to Oklahoma. At that service, they visited with Mike
Kulhman, who is the pastor there, and told him what had been happening. Before they left the Arena Church, Mike gave them
a check to buy Bibles to give away, which they had shared with him they had been doing.
Mike
asked them what the name of the ministry was, and their reply was “we didn't know we had a ministry!” On the drive
back home that night, they were almost to Groom, Texas, and Sherry told Alan and Vaudy the name was to be the Triple Cross Cowboy Ministry. After that, they arranged to have Michael Decker, pastor of Beyond the Walls Prison Ministry, as
a speaker, and he gave them the Triple Cross sign they now take with them everywhere. Michael is from Canyon, Texas, and was
a friend of the Morgans before they moved back to Clinton.
After
a couple of services, C.A. said he would be interested in getting something started at OKC West, so he talked to the owner
Bill Barnhart, and Triple Cross began holding services in El Reno. After that, some friends of the Morgan’s asked if Triple Cross could get a cowboy church started at Wister, Oklahoma. They spoke to the owner of LeFlore County Livestock and
soon they were going to Wister to hold services! When they were at Wister, they met a man named Wayne Meeks, who had come
to one of their services and was baptized a week later. Praise God! Wayne had just bought a Sale Barn in Mena, Arkansas and
called to see if Triple Cross could do in his sale barn what they were doing in Wister. Alan and Sherry told him it wasn't what
they were doing, it was all God! If you will stand out of His way He will be glad to use you.
The
name Triple Cross Cowboy Ministry was given to the ministry by God and it stands for the TRINITY: the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY GHOST .
